Though Golden Axe Warrior borrows heavily from the original Zelda game in terms of gameplay and overall feel, it is a fantastic retro-adventure that is often overlooked. The addition of Y’s style shop and Inn interactions, coupled with furthering the Golden Axe mythology, (complete with cameos, musical cues, and Easter Eggs!) make this is an adventure that holds its own and is highly worth taking if you enjoy Action RPG’s.
Golden Axe Warrior is playable on the Sega Master System, the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive with the Power Base Converter, Game Gear with a Master Gear Converter, and is also an unlockable game in Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360.
