Continuing with our space inspired trilogy this week is the legendary Gaiares. With its unique gameplay mechanics (TOZ, and the ability to steal enemies weapons), rockin’ chiptune score, behemoth bosses, inter-stellar graphics, and parallax scrolling effects, Gaiares truly raised the bar for what to expect from shooters back in the early 90s. It was also yet another testament to the Genesis / Mega Drive becoming a great home for the shmup / space shooter genre as a whole!
