Electrocop for the Atari Lynx

Electrocop is a title that really showcased the power of the Atari Lynx, with its frenetic 3rd-Person Sci-Fi action, impressive scaling effects, and zappingly great soundtrack.

While perhaps not the easiest game to get the hang of initially, with its somewhat constricted 3D environment, Electrocop nevertheless remains a not-to-be-missed title on the Lynx. Once you get familiar with how the game plays, and what your objectives are, the overall presentation, soundtrack, and dystopian Blade Runner meets Robocop atmosphere will leave an indelible mark.

Electrocop truly pushed Atari’s under-appreciated handheld to the limits, and remains a prime example of what the Lynx was capable of back in 1989.

Set in the year 2069, the game sees our robot hero racing against the clock in a futuristic Washington, D.C. of sorts, attempting to rescue the President’s daughter from The Criminal Brain. Can the robot hack the necessary computer terminals to continue on, defeat the other robots that stand in his way, and complete his mission before time runs out?

Apart from the stellar overall presentation, another great feature of Electrocop is the computer terminal mini-games! Try your luck at a quick game of Meteors, Letter Puzzle, or Out Break! ☄️🧩💥

What are your memories with this groundbreaking portable action-adventure title?
